Causes of cylinder cracking

When the temperature is low in winter, the cylinder head of diesel engine is prone to crack and water leakage. The main reasons are as follows:

1.Add cooling water after startup. After the diesel engine is started, the temperature in the engine will rise immediately. If cooling water is added at this time, the cylinder block and cylinder head will cool sharply and crack due to cold shrinkage.

 

2.Cooling water is not discharged after shutdown. The water in the engine freezes and its volume increases, resulting in expansion and fracture of the cylinder block and cylinder head.

 

3.When the diesel engine is running, the cooling water is insufficient or the boiler temperature in the water tank is too high, and the cooling water is suddenly added. Excessive cooling shrinkage of the cylinder block and cylinder head can also lead to cracking.

 

4.The diesel engine has been running for a long time, and the temperature in the engine is very high. After the engine is stopped, drain the high-temperature water immediately. Sudden exposure to cold air can cause cracking of high-temperature components.

 

5.When the pressure reducer is used to stop, the high-temperature cylinder head will suddenly encounter cold air and cause cracking.The following methods can be used to prevent cracking of various cylinder blocks and cylinder heads:

a.Before starting the diesel engine, warm hot water should be added to the water tank. In severe winter, hot water should be injected 2-3 times. It is better to start when the water from the drain valve is about 30~50 ℃.

b.When the diesel engine runs for a long time, it should wait for about half an hour after shutdown, and then drain the cooling water when the engine temperature drops to 40~50 ℃. After draining, it is better to puncture the drain valve switch with fine iron wire to prevent sediment from blocking the drain valve.

c.When the diesel engine runs overheated and is seriously short of water, let the diesel engine idle at low speed for 10-15 minutes, and then slowly add cooling water.
