What are the causes of clutch slip and how to eliminate them
The causes and troubleshooting of clutch slipping are as follows:
Phenomenon:
When the car starts, completely release the clutch pedal, and still feel that the starting power is insufficient or difficult; When the car is running, the speed does not increase with the increase of engine speed, and the driving force is weak; The car skids obviously on the heavy-load uphill and muddy and soft road, and the clutch will emit a burning smell when it is serious.
Reason:
The clutch pedal has no free stroke or the free stroke is too small; The pressure plate spring is too soft or broken; The friction plate is worn too thin, hardened, the rivet is exposed or the surface is stained with oil; The connecting bolts between clutch cover and flywheel are loose; The release bearing sleeve cannot move freely axially.
Judgment and elimination of slipping.
①Tighten the parking brake, put the gear lever in low gear, slowly release the clutch pedal, and slowly increase the accelerator pedal. If the car does not move and the engine continues to run without stalling, it means that the clutch is slipping. When the gear lever is in gear, the parking brake is tightened, and the manual crank will shake the engine, which also means that the clutch is slipping.
②Check the free travel of the clutch pedal, and adjust it if it does not meet the requirements.
③If the free travel is normal, remove the clutch bottom cover and check whether the connecting bolts between the clutch cover and the flywheel are loose and whether there is oil dirt on the outer edge of the friction plate. If there are more adjusting shims between the clutch cover and the flywheel, the shims can be reduced or removed as required.
④If it still slips after the above inspection and elimination, you can remove the clutch and check the condition of the friction plate first. If the friction plate is hardened, too thin and the rivet is exposed, replace it with a new friction plate and re-rivet it. If there is oil stain, clean and dry it with gasoline, and then find out the source of oil stain and try to eliminate it.
⑤If the friction plate is intact, remove the clutch and check the spring force of the pressure plate. If the spring is damaged or too weak, replace the spring. If the spring force is slightly weakened, a washer of appropriate thickness can be added under the spring for further use.
