Truck Air filter maintenance
The most common air filter on trucks is "inertial air filter", which is divided into "main filter element" and "safety filter element". The air filter looks simple in structure, but in fact, it is very particular about maintenance.
1.The dust outlet must be installed perpendicular to the ground
The air outlet shall be located at the lowest part of the filter to ensure that particles and a small amount of rain can be completely discharged (the waterproof of the air inlet cover and the air inlet intermediate interface shall not be sloppy).
Operation in rainy days or in an environment with high air humidity will cause the separated dust to condense and accumulate at the outlet of the dust discharge valve, thus preventing the dust from being discharged smoothly. You can often clean the dust outlet and dust discharge channel to see if there is any bad dust discharge.
2.It is better not to remove the safety filter element
The filter paper of the safety filter element has high permeability, small resistance and low filtration efficiency. It is not allowed to start the engine when only the safety filter element is installed. The safety filter element does not require maintenance and dust removal. It is not allowed to remove the safety filter element during maintenance. Prevent dust from entering the air inlet (even during shutdown).
If dust is found on the safety filter element, it is likely that the main filter element has been damaged, and the main filter element and safety filter element should be replaced immediately.
Of course, when the dust falls on the safety filter element when cleaning the main filter element, the safety filter element can be disassembled for cleaning. However, it is better to install the previously replaced safety filter element and replace it after cleaning.
3.Clean the filter in sequence
The cleaning sequence of the filter is as follows: first, remove the main filter element, block both ends of the filter element with clean cloth or rubber plugs, brush the dust on the filter element surface along the crease direction with a soft bristle brush, and gently tap the end face of the filter element to remove the dust.
Use 0.2-0.3MPa compressed air or leather tiger to blow air from the inside to the outside of the filter element to remove the dust attached to the outer surface of the filter element. It is prohibited to use liquid for cleaning to prevent the filter element from adhering to dust and causing the filter element to be blocked.
Secondly, check whether the main filter element is damaged. Whether the upper and lower end faces are warped; Check whether the rubber sealing ring of the main filter element is damaged; Check the main filter element for dust. If the above problems exist, replace the main filter element immediately.
Finally, use a strong light flashlight to check whether the filter element is damaged. Do not remove the safety filter element during the inspection. If the safety filter element is damaged, replace it immediately. In the process of cleaning the air filter housing, clean the inner wall of the housing with a clean rag, and check whether the dust valve can discharge dust normally.
4.Do not clean the filter frequently
If the air filter is cleaned frequently, the filter capacity of the filter element will not be fully utilized. This will not only increase the amount of dust entering the engine, causing abnormal engine wear, but also cause early damage to the filter element.
After each cleaning, the dust capacity of the filter element will be reduced by 20% - 40%. With the increase of cleaning times, the ash content of the filter element will gradually decrease. When the filter element is cleaned for about 6 times, its ash retention ability is basically lost, and the filter element should be replaced immediately.
When the air filter reaches the end resistance, the corresponding indicator will light up and send a maintenance signal. At this time, Caryou can choose to maintain or replace the air filter according to experience to ensure driving efficiency and safety.
