How A Water Separator Fuel Filter Works

Water and impurities can enter the ship's oil tank in many ways, such as:
-The position of the fuel tank breather and the fuel tank filler is incorrect

The breather and filler can be easily replaced or repositioned, but there is little you can do to prevent condensation in the tank or prevent contaminated fuel from third parties. The water separator fuel filter is designed to filter impurities or water before it reaches the engine. The principle behind this filtration system is surprisingly simple; The top of the filter consists of a paper element, and the bottom of the filter is a storage tank or bowl. Since water is heavier than gasoline, it sinks to the bottom of the filter and stays there until it is drained. In my opinion, the best water separator is the clean bowl type. They allow you to see if water is gathering at the bottom of the system and then drain it with an integrated faucet.
For routine repairs, replace the filter element and reconnect the existing bowl. The installation of water separation fuel system is very simple, and it does not require much mechanical knowledge. It does take 15-30 minutes, but if the area you install is difficult to enter or needs to be modified, it may take longer. Based on the brand and settings you need, it will save you about 50-85 dollars.
When water or other pollutants enter the fuel, it is good to know that you are protecting your outboard tank. Installing one will be one of the wisest decisions you can make when taking care of the outboard.
